Last Minute Winter Wedding Tips

winter wedding

Are you lucky enough to be saying “I do” in a lavish winter wedding in the upcoming weeks? Then not only will you be amazingly excited but we’re guessing, you’ll be doing your best to ensure any loose ends are tied up. To make things easier, and hopefully, a lot less stressful, we thought we’d share these few last minute winter wedding tips to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible on your imminent big day. Winter wedding planning is indeed much better when done months in advance but as we all know, life doesn’t always go to plan, leaving you with things to do at the last minute. With this in mind, it can be all too easy to get carried away focusing on things that would otherwise be fine. So we’re going to draw attention to some of the more important things. First up, let’s take a look at the budget.

It’s always incredibly important to take a last look at your budget. Most of your major expenses should already be signed and paid for, which will give you a much better idea for what you have left to spend or in some cases, where you’ve gone over budget and may need to readjust. If you’re in the position where you’re still negotiating last minute prices with people such as photographers or florists, then it’s time to be upfront about what you can and more-importantly, can’t afford.

Next up, you’ll want to ensure your paperwork is all in order. This prevents you from being bogged down by paperwork on the big day itself and of course prevents any mishaps that could prevent you from marrying. You’ll also want to ensure that if you’re heading out on your honeymoon straight after, you have all of the necessary paperwork that you’ll need to fly out happy and stress free. Think travel money, passports, visas and of course, all the correct numbers to leave your loved ones should they need to get hold of you.

Once all of the business of budgets and paperwork is out of the way, it’s time to focus on the last minute finishing touches; from adding extras to your centrepieces to making sure the reception drinks are still what you want. For winter weddings, we find things as simple as glass jars with tea lights in make for a magical walkway, and are great especially when you don’t have much left in the budget to add a little extra sparkle.

Planning a winter wedding at the very last minute isn’t the easiest thing but it most certainly isn’t the end of the world. It’s simply a matter of taking stock of what still needs to be done and keeping calm throughout – easier said than done, we wholeheartedly understand. Here’s to a fabulous winter wedding at our amazing country house wedding venue, we simply can’t wait to have you here.

Grooms…it’s time to start wedding planning!

If you’re reading this, then you’ve already taken the biggest step when it comes to wedding planning, you’ve sought the help and advice of someone in the know. Now, here at That Amazing Place, we aren’t afraid of blowing our own trumpet every now and then. We’ve been hosting weddings for happy couples here at our country manor house, from up and down the country for quite some time now and as such, have gained some invaluable knowledge when it comes to wedding planning itself. We know that a great deal of brides take on much of the organisation however, grooms are becoming more and more involved so we thought we’d share a few wedding planning tips for the grooms out there to make things easier on the bride and help with that all-important big day!

Let’s get suited and booted – so many men think they’ll walk into a shop, grab a suit to buy or hire and that’s it. They do however, usually find themselves pleasantly surprised at the array of different styles available. For some, one style and/or colour will jump out immediately, for others however, it can feel a little daunting. This is where going to the right place will help.

Tinker, tailor…you catch the drift – going to a professional will make this process so much easier. Not only will you have access to some of the best designs out there but you’ll also be privy to a well-trained eye who’ll be able to point you in the right direction when it comes to dressing your shape, height and size. Nothing says perfectly finished groom quite like a professionally dressed man. Lastly, we know there’s always a great debate when it comes to whether to hire or buy. Just remember, choosing to buy your groom’s suit doesn’t mean you can’t hire them for your groomsmen.

What about your wedding ring – it’s a question asked by many grooms, whether you’ll be wearing a wedding ring or not. While some choose not to, others absolutely want to. If you are, then you need to decide whether you’d like having coordinating rings with your partner or having a ring of your own personal choice. You also need to make sure you buy your rings in plenty of time to allow for any size adjustments necessary. No one wants to be fumbling at the alter with a ring that’s too small or too big for that matter.

Speech! Speech! – while a bride always seems to escape this nerve-wracking task, the groom must make a speech, whether it’s a short, sharp and to the point effort or a longer, more in-depth heartfelt speech. Depending on the type of person you are, you’ll want to plan in plenty of time. For those who find public speaking easy, then an off-the-cuff effort may be just the ticket but be sure to jot down a few notes to show yourself an order in which you’ll want to make your thanks and references.

Gather a few questions to ensure you’ve got all the information from your very first boutique visit and you’ll have everything you need to make it quick, easy and done in your lunch time.

Finding Wedding Suppliers – while this may sound like a mammoth task, one that simply couldn’t be achieved without hours of phone calls and planning, we’re here to tell you it couldn’t be further from that. Why? Because we’ve gone out of our way to collate a full list of wedding suppliers from florists, to make up artists, entertainment to photographers. Write Your Invitations – it’s a job that gets put off until the very last minute but one that doesn’t need to be. You’re already at your desk so why not write out your invitations. For those who dread the drudgery of such a task, why not start early and simply write a few a day. It’s a job that can be made so simple, it almost goes unnoticed.

Organise Your Seating Plan – once again, this is an area in which we can help make things a million times easier. Yes, they’ll always be guests you’ll want to keep apart or together, an extra plus one here and there that you’ll need to accommodate but for the most part, this is where we can take a lot of weight from your shoulders by showing a variety of seating plan options when it comes to seating plans, depending on your amount of guests. All that’s needed from you is to seat your guests exactly where you want them, which we think you’ll agree, is the perfect little lunch-time task.
